Product information

In order to meet the legal requirements in the long term, demand for system designs that utilise natural refrigerants is on the rise. Hydrocarbons are a future-proof option with impressive thermodynamic characteristics. By further developing its CSHP series, BITZER is providing a wide range of compact screw compressors for an even larger application range with the hydrocarbon refrigerants R290 (propane) and R600a (isobutane).

BITZER optimised the technical specifications of the proven CSHP series with regard to the various upcoming applications for system manufacturers and operators. In the emerging heat pump market, for instance, demand is rising for reversible system designs and solutions with moderate to high capacity ranges based on refrigerants with long-term availability. Likewise, more environmentally friendly alternatives are being sought in the fields of comfort and process cooling. The CSHP series allows for powerful systems with a wide application range and compact dimensions thanks to their built-in oil separator and suction-gas-cooled motor.

Future-proof system designs with hydrocarbon refrigerantsThe application range of CSHP compact screw compressors with R290 has been expanded significantly. The compressors are now available in ten construction sizes with displacements ranging from 197 to 910 m3/h at 50 Hz for this refrigerant. They are fitted with mechanical capacity control as standard for efficient compressor control and to save energy during operation. They can even operate with a VARIPACK external frequency inverter at up to 60 Hz. With evaporation temperatures of between –30°C and +25°C and condensing temperatures of between +20°C and +73°C, CSHP compact screw compressors with R290 are particularly well suited for reversible liquid chillers in comfort applications. Hot water flow temperatures of up to circa +70°C can be achieved.

The compressors can now also operate with R600a. Isobutane shines in large heat pumps in industrial and commercial systems in particular, such as for local and district heating networks. The compact screw compressors in the CSHP series are available for this refrigerant in 17 construction sizes with displacements of between 197 and 1120 m3/h at 50 Hz and are preferably controlled by an external frequency inverter. The compressors are equipped with mechanical capacity control as standard. With evaporation temperatures of between –10°C and +55°C and condensing temperatures of between +25°C and +100°C, they can deliver hot water flow temperatures of up to +95°C.

On the safe sideTo ensure compliance with the strictest safety regulations at all times, CSHP compact screw compressors also come equipped with the SE-i1 compressor protection device as standard for condensing temperatures of more than +80°C. For complete protection and smooth operation, the SE-i1 monitors signals from multiple sensors on the compressor and compares them against the programmed admissible conditions. For example, the parameters it monitors include motor, discharge gas and oil temperature as well as the rotation direction of the rotors. Another advantage for contractors and end users is that the SE-i1 comes equipped as standard, which makes it easier to commission and maintain the compressors thanks to the comprehensive data logging function and operation visualisation in conjunction with the BEST SOFTWARE.

Special requirementsThe compressors in the CSHP series are free from ignition sources in normal operation and classed as permanently technically tight pursuant to EN1127-1. When the product contains flammable gases, this classification means that no ATEX zone has to be assumed around the component and simplifies the manufacturer’s risk assessment for the system as a whole. On request, the CSHP series can be supplied in an ATEX design that can be set up in zones with explosion protection requirements.
