Special presentation "AIT Heat Pump Innovation Lounge"

Heat pumps are rightly regarded as a key technology for the decarbonisation of industry and the buildings sector. The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology has been making a significant contribution to research and development in this field for over 25 years. 

And in doing so, it has set new milestones: in collaboration with Takeda Pharmaceuticals, the AIT developed an innovative steam-generating heat pump which, as the world’s first industrial application of its kind, generates process steam for pharmaceutical production (184 °C) without CO₂ emissions and uses 100 per cent natural refrigerants. With the commissioning of one of the most modern heat pump laboratories, featuring test benches for units with a heating capacity of up to 100 kW, the AIT is specifically catering to the growing market in the commercial and large-scale building sectors and is consolidating its position as one of Europe’s leading research institutions.
