Development of High-Temperature Heat Pumps for heat upgrade on industrial and marine applications

The presented product is a high-temperature heat pump, recovering the waste heat at 80-90 ⁰C from industrial excess heat, and upgrading this heat for low-pressure steam production at a temperature of over 120 ⁰C for covering heating services of industrial process.

Session description

Many industrial processes (pulp, food and beverages, chemical) take place in temperatures of the order of 110 to130 °C, while at the same time in those processes excess heat is rejected at temperatures in the order of 60—90 °C. High Temperature Heat Pumps (HTHP), as a high efficiency RES technology, is the ideal means to upgrade dissipated heat from the industrial process and reuse in the processes.
Direct benefits are:
(1) reduction of fuel consumption and its cost, and
(2) comply with the limits for the greenhouse gases and pollutant emissions of international regulations by elimination of the use of oil of gas boilers.
