Development of High-Temperature Heat Pumps for heat upgrade on industrial and marine applications

The presented product is a high-temperature heat pump, recovering the waste heat at 80-90 ⁰C from industrial excess heat, and upgrading this heat for low-pressure steam production at a temperature of over 120 ⁰C for covering heating services of industrial process.

Beschreibung

Many industrial processes (pulp, food and beverages, chemical) take place in temperatures of the order of 110 to130 °C, while at the same time in those processes excess heat is rejected at temperatures in the order of 60—90 °C. High Temperature Heat Pumps (HTHP), as a high efficiency RES technology, is the ideal means to upgrade dissipated heat from the industrial process and reuse in the processes.
Direct benefits are:
(1) reduction of fuel consumption and its cost, and
(2) comply with the limits for the greenhouse gases and pollutant emissions of international regulations by elimination of the use of oil of gas boilers.

Thermodraft designs and manufactures high-temperature heat pump solutions towards covering this need. The Thermodraft’s heat pump products recover heat dissipated industrial heat available at 60-90 °C, and upgrades this heat for low-pressure steam production at a temperature of over 110-130 ⁰C covering a wide range of industrial heating services.
The Coefficient of Performance (COP) of the HTHPs may exceed 4 for this temperature range, and 4th generation eco-friendly refrigerants with ultra-low GWP and ODP are employed. The range of the thermal capacity is from 80 kWth to 1 MWth, covering large scale of industrial heating demand. Well-designed components are employed, such as high-temperature screw compressor and shell & tube or plate-heat exchangers (possibly use of special materials depending on the application), while the unit’s design can cover various space requirements depending on the specific application.
This product leads to a payback period of 3 years or even shorter in case fuel prices continue to increase or high-cost distillate fuels are used.
