Over the course of three days, the experts will deliver their presentations covering a wide range of topics, spanning everything from AI in refrigeration technology, more efficient solutions for industrial heat pumps and new perspectives on data centre cooling, through to the question of what effects have been observed in the first 100 days since the Ecodesign Regulation ErP2 206 came into force.
NEW: “Future Hub” to act as a central meeting place for all topics relating to the future
The Chillventa supporting programme is further enhanced by the new “Future Hub” in Hall 9, Stand 9-504, which will serve as a central meeting point for all future-oriented topics. Here, visitors will gain practical insights into digitalisation and AI – from the office to the building site – as well as social media and recruitment, all presented in a concise, inspiring and immediately applicable way. At the stand, practitioners, thought leaders and technology experts will be on hand to present ready-to-use solutions for the future of skilled trade businesses. In addition to inspiration and ideas, there will also be specific practical examples. These will illustrate how businesses can be further developed in light of technological progress and increasing digitalisation. The Networking Arena will focus on connecting with digitally savvy colleagues and experts, and topics will include how businesses can remain attractive to skilled workers in the future, as well as how digital tools can be used to save time in the office, freeing up valuable capacity for the skilled trades.
Chillventa CONGRESS offers in-depth and scientific expert knowledge
At the Chillventa CONGRESS, held on the day before Chillventa (12 October), the focus will be .on international knowledge transfer. Leading experts from the fields of research, development and industry will share their insights at the “ASERCOM + EPEE Symposium”, as well as the lecture series “Heat Pumping Technologies”, the “Ninth Innovation Day for Refrigeration Technology” and “Air Conditioning for Data Centres”. Participants will receive information on current topics and an outlook on the future of their sectors.
The following topics, amongst others, will be the focus of attention:
- Ninth Innovation Day for Refrigeration Technology: The potential of R-744 as an environmentally friendly refrigerant; the energy efficiency of a thermal management system for battery-electric long-distance buses; heat pumps in local heating networks.
- Heat Pumping Technologies: Changing the Game: Retrofitting for Resilience – ASHRAE; Industrial and High-Temperature Heat Pumps: Global Progress and Germany’s Role; Intelligent cooling and sustainable savings through AI-driven refrigeration control.
- ASERCOM + EPEE Symposium: The German R-AC-HP market state-of-play and its regulatory landscape in relation to the refrigerant transition; ecodesign regulatory landscape and state-of-play; regulatory challenges facing the EU heat pump market; the regulatory framework for F-gases.
- Data Centres: The transformation… towards genuine sustainability; harnessing waste heat from data centres; data centre cooling with R-290; air cooling: limitations, options, current situation and future prospects.
Special presentations offer fascinating insights into real-world practice
Electrical measurements during commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting are standard practice for specialist contractors. The special presentation “We are under tension – Testing the modern electrical equipment” will focus not only on tests to verify the effectiveness of protective measures, but also on other considerations, such as harmonic distortion and its effects. In addition to the aspects of working on and testing electrical installations, the presentation will highlight specific features relating to consumers of electricity. Practical demonstrations will show, for example, how harmonics are generated and how they are measured. Phenomena such as neutral conductor overloading and neutral point displacement will also be discussed. Demonstrations will take place on all three days of the fair at 10.00 am, 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm in the special exhibition area of the Bundesfachschule Maintal.
At the special exhibition “AIT Heat Pump Innovation Lounge”, visitors will gain an insight into the latest developments and research findings in the field of heat pumps. These are rightly regarded as a key technology for the decarbonisation of industry and the buildings sector. The AIT, Austrian Institute of Technology, has been making a significant contribution to research and development in this field for over 25 years, setting numerous milestones in the process: In collaboration with Takeda Pharmaceuticals, the AIT has developed a novel heat pump which, as the world’s first industrial application of its kind, generates process steam for pharmaceutical production (+184 °C) without CO₂ emissions and utilises 100% low-GWP refrigerants. With the commissioning of one of the most state-of-the-art heat pump laboratories, featuring test benches for units with a heating capacity of up to 100 kW, the AIT is specifically catering to the growing market in the commercial and large-scale building sector and is consolidating its position as one of Europe’s leading research institutions.
In addition, on the first two days of the trade fair, visitors will be able to watch the German Championship for Refrigeration Technicians live in Hall 9, Stand 9-322. Organised by the Federation of German Refrigeration Plant Assemblers (BIV), the best young professionals of their year group compete will against one another and demonstrate what sets modern refrigeration engineering apart. Their prize will be the title of German Champion in the refrigeration engineering trade.
In front of an international audience of industry experts, the participants will demonstrate their skills under real competition conditions. As well as in-depth specialist knowledge and technical precision, the task will require concentration, attention to detail and the ability to work confidently under time pressure – all under the watchful eyes of the expert jury. Here, you will see the next generation of skilled workers in the refrigeration industry tackling challenging tasks at first hand. The highlight will be the awards ceremony on 15 October 2026 at 2.00 pm at Stand 9-322.
