What are the requirements for retrofitting an existing refrigeration system from an A1 to an A2L refrigerant?

Ensuring the long-term viability of existing systems requires us to explore all possible solutions, including retrofits, in order to meet market needs in the face of significant quota reductions over the next three years.

Session description

Commercial and industrial refrigeration plays a vital role in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 in Europe and addressing climate challenges. The F-Gas III regulation requires a shift towards refrigerants with very low GWP (< 150) for new installations in many applications. But what solutions are available to ensure the long-term viability of existing systems by integrating energy efficiency, flexibility, resilience, sustainability, technological expertise and the reuse of the majority of existing refrigeration equipment?
In this context, A2L refrigerants are among the range of solutions to be considered for retrofitting existing refrigeration systems currently using an A1-classified refrigerant.
At this conference, our aim is to present the necessary prerequisi ...
