Influence of the door design and the use of the pressure relief valve on the energy efficiency of a cold room.

After installation of a cold room, there are energy inefficiency that can be created. In this presentation we’d like to show how the use of the correct pressure relief valve and the right accessories for the door can have an impact on the energy efficiency of a cold room.

Session description

The energy needed to keep a cold room at the defined temperature is calculated based on the size of the chamber and the inside and outside temperatures. After installation, there are, then, other energy inefficiencies that can increase the energy consumption of the cold room.

First, the design of the door is very important. Specifically, the factor influencing the energy efficiency is the type of door and the components used to build it. The use of poor-quality gaskets and profiles or components, like hinges and fasteners, that cannot guarantee the correct closure of the door can lead to significant inefficiency and increase in the energy consumption.

Another very important component is the pressure relief valve. On ...
