Description

Across the globe, electrification efforts are driving more widespread adoption of Heat Pump technology that can be used to replace fossil-fuel powered furnaces, boilers, and electric resistance heaters. In order to support these transition efforts towards electrification, Arkema has developed a range of very low global warming potential (<150 GWP) refrigerants to replace existing higher global warming potential HCFC and HFC refrigerants in a wide range of Heat Pump applications from single residence comfort heating to high temperature Heat Pumps used for district or industrial heating.

Arkema will present its range of Heat Pump refrigerants that can help achieve global warming potential reduction, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance goals in many different Heat Pump applications. An overview of each refrigerant, applications appropriate for each refrigerant, and performance characteristics will be shared.

Arkema’s refrigerants have been designed to closely match the properties of legacy refrigerant products, minimizing the amount of overall system redesign required. In addition, each of these refrigerants are classified as either A1 or A2L according to ASHRAE, so they can be used at higher overall charge levels and with fewer additional required safety features than other higher flammability products. All these properties of Arkema’s low GWP refrigerants will help OEMs reduce their environmental impact, while maintaining the required performance and safety attributes of their systems.
