Description

The Danfoss Turbocor® TGS380 is a new oil-free, magnetic bearing compressor that can be used in air- or water-cooled chiller applications.
This compressor is an additional model offering of the successful Danfoss Turbocor® TGS series of compressors launched in 2013. With a maximum pressure ratio of 5.7, the new TGS380 offers a large operating map for use in air cooled chiller applications in hot ambient climates, water-water heat pump and heat recovery. The TGS380 also offers the largest cooling capacity of any Turbocor compressor for use in air cooled chiller applications.
As with all Turbocor TGS series compressors, the TGS380 is ideally suited for data center applications. The wide operating range supports data center operation in low ambient climates and the ability to generate high leaving water temperatures for operating cost savings. In addition, the fast restart feature allows the compressor to restart as fast as 30-40 sec upon power restoration to minimize downtime in the event of a power interruption.
The Danfoss Turbocor® TGS series was the first oil-free, magnetic bearing centrifugal compressor line to utilize HFO-1234ze, which is an environmentally friendly refrigerant with GWP less than 1—enabling compliance with evolving and future refrigerant regulations—and the first in the industry to use R-515B. This refrigerant has an AR5 GWP of 299 and an ASHRAE A1 safety classification for lower toxicity and no flame propagation. This allows users to comply with environmental regulations and safety codes by utilizing a compressor with a refrigerant that is both non-flammable and low GWP.
