Given the necessity of increased energy efficiency of all energy consuming products the focus is also on how energy is used in the industrial sector. A good part of the total energy consumption globally falls to industry.
VDMA has developed two standards which will discussed in this presentation, VDMA 24247-2 and VDMA 24248. The first addresses refrigeration systems and the second addresses electrically driven powered heat pumps. Since the two standards address many similar topics, it is worth looking at them both.
For the eurammon Technical Committee Industrial Heat Pumps the latter is of direct interest. We have looked at a was to standardize the presentation of case studies with meaningful data. An essential aspect of a good standard is comparability of different systems for similar applications. Far too many case studies do not show the potential customer meaning full information.
We are aware that there can be commercial interests behind the decision, but it can also be because there is no standard way to do it. Based on VDMA 24248 for energy efficiency of electrically powered heat pumps an Excel spreadsheet has been developed that makes it easier for the company to present meaningful information.
It presents the relevant efficiency parameters of a system and thus makes it comparable with other systems or a benchmark system. In the eurammon Technical Committee Industrial Heat Pumps it has been decided only to look at natural refrigerants so fluorinated and/or chlorinated hydrocarbons are not included in this context. A lot more work can be done to turn the complete standards in to a functional tool. The presentation will show the current status of the project.
