Description

The Technical Committee bundles eurammon’s activities in the fields of sustainability and energy efficiency. The committee researches, composes, and publishes best practice references, case studies, papers, and information papers which demonstrate opportunities to increase energy efficiency applying natural refrigerant systems.

According to the International Energy Agency increasing energy efficiency is the most critical parameter to reduce global carbon dioxide emissions. Informing the public properly about the opportunities and requirements associated with the use of natural refrigerants is a crucial means to provide the possibility for end users as well as manufacturers to judge and assess for themselves.

Energy efficiency can be improved through various means, starting with the individual components (i.e., compressors, pumps, controls, regulation, heat exchangers, insulation, etc.), considerations for efficient system design, optimization for applications (cold storage, freezing, food processes, chillers, HVAC, retail, etc.), as well as optimization of the entire system.

A proper evaluation is necessary as well. Here a diverse set of parameters come into play, like GWP, TEWI, COP (seasonal or total), SEC, investment and maintenance cost, energy or operating cost, or lifetime of the installation. In order to improve the comparability of different case studies, the technical committee is currently working on a tool providing comparable data through a defined set of values.
