Description

There is an enormous heating demand in industrial processes up to 200 °C, which covers around 30 % of the total global thermal energy demand. In order to decarbonize these heating loads, high temperatures heat pumps are the best choice in terms of costs, efficiency and enviromental friendly solutions. The working fluids of this innovative heat pump project for a dairy plant are natural fluids (hydrocarbons): a cascade cycle with R-600 for the HT stage and R-290 for the LT stage. DORIN compressors ATEX certified are the best choice for this application, thanks to the unique technical features and the huge application envelope that allows extreme working conditions at very high evaporating and condensing temperature. The vast experience developed in Dorin on the transcritical CO2 compressors since the early nineties is an exclusive know-how of several technical solutions and advanced components coming from the automotive sector that, after a sucessfull implementation with the trascritical carbon dioxide technology, have also been extended to the ATEX range. The concept is a machine able to cover both cooling capacity at around 0 °C and heating capacity at around 115°C, matching a typical necessity of several industries (paper and pulp, food and beverage, chemical, …) and resulting in tremendous primary energy savings. A potential evaluation indicated primary energy savings in the order of 62 % and CO2-reduction potential of up to 94 %, compared to a dairy with natural gas-based process heat supply and R-744 (NH3) chiller for cooling capacity.
