The next generation of products and systems are close-to-zero carbon emission technologies that look at all the environmental sustainability related aspects of our business.

While there is general consensus on the fact that the previous F-gas regulation and Ecodesign & Energy Labelling regulations have worked relatively well, the new Regulations are far more ambitious and need to adapt to the EU's increased climate targets and to the emissions savings offered by the modern technologies and systems that can effectively accompany Europe to the 2050 climate neutrality.

It is therefore of paramount importance to rapidly deploy products and systems that combine performance with sustainability, efficiency and low climate impacting refrigerants.

The focus for the green refrigerating systems of the future is now on reducing carbon and environmental footprints through their lifecycle (LCA), not only with the use of natural refrigerants and more and more efficient systems, but mostly delivering products designed to last longer, fit for a climate neutral and circular economy, recyclable and end-of-life friendly.

Sustainability is increasingly important, the primary target for every future oriented company, and it goes from the responsible choice of the refrigerant, to the management of the materials and the energy that we use for our products, through the emissions generated during the product lifetime, to the end of life treatment, that needs to preserve components and materials pure to be returned for a second life.

To succeed in the transition to a resource-efficient, climate-neutral and pollution-free circular economy we need a new approach to the way we design, make and use products.
Key pilars of this new approach are the use of recyclable and recycled materials, minimize the waste, especially packaging materials, maximum efficiency and energy produced from renewable sources.
During this presentation we will present the challenges and the developments that will contribute to close all the gaps and pave the way to climate neutral refrigeration systems.
