ETE - Extreme Temperature Efficiency High efficient technology to run transcritical systems in all climate conditions

The new EPTA technology ETE "Extreme Temperature Efficiency" integrates a subcooling unit in the transcritical refrigeration process to cool down the gascooler outlet temperature. The subcooling is completely integrated in the system and allows transcritical systems to run in all climate conditions.

Description

At the beginning of the presentation I will do an introduction of the major problems we see today with transcritical R-744 refrigeration systems:
1) energy costs
2) high ambient temperatures
ETE is working on both issues: Introducing an integrated subcooling compressor with very high suction pressure to cool down the gascooler outlet temperature. The first slides explain the problem of high temperatures with R-744 systems. With the help of refrigeration schematics and log p h diagrams. It will demonstrate what happens in the system when specific ambient temperature are exceeded. Especially in the evaporators and what it means to the refrigeration temperature.
The core of the presentation is a detailed description of the ETE solution. Also here with refrigeration schematics and log p h diagrams. For better understanding the standard subcooling solution (with external subcooler) will be explained, too. Then there will be a comparison with the today state of the art technology for high ambient temperatures: parallel compression.
The advantages summarized:
1) work on the root of the problem: avoid flashgas (ETE) instead of removing it energy efficient (parallel compression)
2) ETE has a better energy efficiency as parallel compression: The suction pressure of ETE is >50bar. Parallel compressor suction pressure is >37bar. At the end showing real data from case studies and installations worldwide.
