The transition to low-GWP refrigerants is driving significant changes in commercial refrigeration system design and creating new technical challenges for compressor manufacturers. This presentation introduces the Tecumseh AX Platform, a new generation of hermetic reciprocating compressors developed specifically for commercial refrigeration applications using R-290 and A2L refrigerants. With displacements ranging from 22 to 33 cc, the AX Platform is available in Low Back Pressure (LBP), Low/Medium Back Pressure (L/MBP), and High Back Pressure (HBP) configurations.
