The Shift Toward Sustainable Steam Production in F&B industry

F&B companies are pursuing net-zero goals, yet steam still relies on fossil boilers. Combining high temperature HP & MVR can boosts efficiency, cuts costs, and reduces emissions. JCI’s steam HP testing further proves this potential, achieving +150°C, making it ready for real industrial use.

Session Beschreibung

Decarbonization is no longer optional, it’s a business necessity. With net-zero targets set for 2050 and many F&B companies aiming for 2030 or earlier, the need to rethink energy use is rapidly growing. One of the biggest challenges is how to decarbonize steam generation for industrial processes.
Today, most steam for industrial use is produced using fossil fuel boilers that are not designed for sustainability. Technologies such as Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) have proven effective in large industrial processes and energy industries by recycling vapor to improve efficiency. However, their use in the industrial F&B sector has been limited due to practical constraints and a lack of tailored solutions, especially in brownfield installations.
