Sector coupling without lock-in: integrating PV, battery, heat pump and EV charging using open protocols
PV, battery, heat pump and wallbox are often bought as four separate assets. Should integration therefore mean a single-vendor system? This talk argues that an open architecture using Modbus TCP/RTU, EEBus and EMS partners, is the way forward, including benefits, limits and a practical case.

Session Beschreibung
PV systems, battery storage, heat pumps and wallboxes are still often purchased as four separate trades across the DACH region: different manufacturers, different installation partners and four separate apps. The result is unnecessary friction in commissioning, monitoring, service and daily operation.
The following presentation argues for a clear thesis: sector coupling does not require a single-vendor walled garden. An open architecture built from well-selected components, standardised interfaces and a specialist energy management system can enable coordinated operating strategies, without locking customers and installers into one manufacturer.
The focus is on open protocols and practical integration paths: Modbus T ...
