The increasing use of heat pumps is accompanied by rising expectations regarding acoustic performance. Low-frequency noise from compressors remains a key challenge, as it impacts both user comfort and regulatory compliance. A large share of this noise originates from structural vibrations transmitted and radiated as airborne sound. 

This presentation explains the fundamental relationship between vibration and noise and outlines a structured approach to vibration isolation. Key factors such as static stiffness, dynamic stiffness, damping behaviour, frequency ratios, and the avoidance of resonance effects are addressed.
