High-temperature heat pumps for near-complete industrial process decarbonization

See how completed high-temperature heat pump projects deliver process heat from 100 °C to 180 °C. Real industrial examples using low-GWP and natural refrigerants demonstrate the potential of modern heat pump systems to reduce CO2 emissions, improve efficiency and integrate electrified heat.

Session Beschreibung

High-temperature heat pumps are considered a key technology for the decarbonization of industrial processes. Especially in industries with a high demand for process heat—such as the food, paper, chemical, and textile sectors—they offer significant potential to replace fossil fuels with electrified and energy-efficient heat generation. While heat pumps are already well established in the building sector, industrial applications require much higher temperature levels and involve additional challenges regarding process integration, operational reliability, and economic feasibility.
Tim Hamacher will present completed SPH high-temperature heat pump projects delivering process heat between 100 °C and 180 °C. The examples cover pharmaceutical, metal processing, food ...
