Absorption heat pumps with the working fluids pairing LiBr/H2O are gaining in importance as a bridging technology to the industrial use of waste heat in European heating networks. 
Type II absorption heat transformer (AHT) creates perfect opportunity to help customers to optimize their existing systems and lower CO2 emissions. It enable savings in primary energy use, which results in reduction of operating costs. 
Type II AHT is driven by thermal energy such as jacket water from cogeneration system, solar-heated water, or from manufacturing process. It has no electrical driven compressor and it has very low electricity consumption compared to other types of Heat Pumps. The water-lithium bromide technology enables to operate under a vacuum instead of under pressure. As a result, AHT does not fall into high-pressure safety gas regulations. Using water as refrigerant, it provides a low-cost supply of hot water up to 145 °C ideally suitable for washing and heating in manufacturing processes or generate low pressure steam up to 0.2MPaG, which can help to decarbonize process steam and it can be considered for subsidy program, which can be used to help offset initial investment costs.
The presentation will describe technical principles of AHT technology, various case studies on the application of novel heat-powered AHT with use of high temperatures for steam generation.
