The presentation will focus on the launch of a new series of brazed plate heat exchangers for use with propane as both evaporators and condensers.

Interest in R-290, along with other natural refrigerants, has been increasing recently and with the progress in F-Gas regulations which is highlighting the use of natural refrigerants more and more the interest to use R-290 in larger systems and for more applications is increasing. In the last few years R-290 has been used, mainly, in domestic Heat Pumps but this is changing with increasing interest in commercial Heat Pumps and in chillers which is increasing the capacity requirements. There are now systems operating for some years with R-290, mainly domestic Heat Pumps, and these have proved most successful in terms of performance and very interesting for the future.

As a result of this experience very useful inputs on performance is gained which has been key to the development of this new series of brazed plate heat exchangers and so the presentation will include details that have been taken into account during the plate design and in calculating heat exchangers for use. The aim is to highlight the considerations of working with R-290, what we have learnt and how this is translated into new products. The current portfolio will be shown as well as announcing the new SE Series; a new range of products optimised for R-290. The SE series, will be explained together with the improvements in performance of the heat exchanger which are vital to system efficiency and so creating a new range of products is a significant step in this direction.
