Koura’s low GWP Refrigerants – solutions ranging from comforting cooling to ultra-low temperature refrigeration
In this presentation, two types of Koura developed refrigerants will be discussed;
(1) retrofit refrigerants with similar properties to incumbent refrigerants (R-456A, R-444A and R-473A) and
(2) GWP below 150 refrigerants for new systems (R-492A and R-485A).

Session Beschreibung
The evolution of refrigerant regulations in Europe has witnessed a significant shift towards embracing more environmentally friendly alternatives. The adoption of natural refrigerants has emerged as a pivotal strategy to mitigate climate change and cut greenhouse gas emissions. However, this transition brings heightened attention to safety considerations, particularly concerning flammable refrigerants like R-290.
Within this context, the European Standard EN378 Part 1 assumes a crucial role in ensuring the safety and environmental protection of refrigeration and Heat Pump systems. This presentation aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of EN378 Part 1, with a specific focus on its implications for flammable refrigerants.
