A2L Solutions for Cold Rooms

A summary of the challenges of A2L refrigerants for split system cold room applications relative to refrigerant charge limits, flammability limits, room sizes and pipe runs. How does the Marstair A2LsysteMatch overcome this with case study examples.

Session Beschreibung

The F-gas regulations have implemented a strict refrigerant phase down continuing into 2030 and new EU proposals have the quota continuing to reduce until 2048.
Alternative solutions must be found to current high GWP HFC installations and cold rooms is an area of particular difficulty. R-744 refrigerant solutions can be expensive to install and run, as well as requiring new skills for installers. A2L refrigerants operate in a very similar way to current F-gas refrigerants and are cheaper to install and run.
But there are limits on refrigerant charge levels within the EN378 standard of 20% of the lower flammability limit. Appling traditional split system methods requires refrigerant charge levels which are nearly always higher than internal cold r ...
