
Sustainability maximization of self-contained cabinets thanks to high efficiency components and adaptive control
This case study, on a cabinet for retails, evidences the relevant energy saving provided by replacing the on-off compressor and controller originally adopted, with the Embraco VCC compressors, multispeed fan motors and adaptive control management.

The general adoption of the R-290 on the self-contained equipment will practically nullify the direct CO2 emission (GWP=0,02) focusing all the efforts on the indirect emission due to the energy use.
Variable speed technology (VCC) provides relevant energy saving vs on-off compressors, by modulating the compressor's cooling capacity according to the heat load; however, part of the advantages are eroded by other energy-using components (fans, lights, heater...) and further improvements on the VCC COP and speed extension are transferred to the cabinets with an asymptotic trend of its energy consumption.
