Turboalgor: the solution to enhance transcritical refrigeration systems efficiency!

Turboalgor technology enhances transcritical refrigeration systems efficiency.
Potential energy of flash gas is used by a Free Piston Expander to make a precompression of gas coming from the evaporator reducing, in this way, compressor workload and overall energy consumption of the system.

Session Beschreibung

Turboalgor, in line with European Union directives to eliminate hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) by 2050, has developed an innovative technology to improve the efficiency of transcritical refrigeration systems. The heart of Turboalgor's innovation is a patented Free Piston Expander (FPE) and its control valve, a device designed to pre-compress the gas leaving the evaporator before it can reach the main compressor. In fact, inside the FPE there is a piston that, using flash gas residual pressure, moves alternately inside a cylinder; thanks to piston motion the gas coming from evaporator is pre-compressed and subsequently sent to main compressor. This reduces the workload of the main compressor, resulting in significant energy savings for the entire system: having 30 °C gas cooler outlet temper ...
