More than the sum of its parts
The Hybrid City Multi system (HVRF) is the world's first 2-pipe system to provide simultaneous cooling and heating with heat recovery, combining the benefits of a direct evaporation system with those of a chilled water system. The technology is based on the City Multi R2 heat pump system from Mitsubishi Electric.
The HVRF system consists of an R2 outdoor unit in the City Multi series and the Hybrid BC controller, which permits the transfer of energy from refrigerant to the internal water circuit. The indoor units belonging to the system are provided with a water register.
Benefits at a glance:
- Energy-saving heat recovery
- The ultimate in comfort
- Easy to install
- Minimal design work
- Simultaneous heating and cooling
Highly efficient solution based on 2-pipe system
The Hybrid City Multi system uses proven R2 technology for simultaneous cooling and heating with heat recovery. With this technology, it is now possible to set up complete systems for heating, cooling and hot water supply in systems based on renewable energy carriers. Every single indoor unit can be operated independently in heating and cooling mode. The heat that is taken from the rooms being cooled is not vented to the outdoor air, but used to heat those rooms where warmth is required. The inverter-driven compressor in the outdoor unit has virtually infinitely variable output control and only delivers the output actually required in the building.
Less is more
Planning and installation of the 2-pipe system are much more flexible and straightforward than for a chiller with additional heat generator with four pipes. No additional pumps, tanks or switch valves are required in the Hybrid City Multi system. In the 2-pipe system there are significantly fewer connection points, which ultimately reduces potential leaks and makes the system more reliable with lower maintenance requirements.
