Axial fans for evaporator applications
Robust, compact solution saves space in the cold storage area.
Important requirements of fans for use in evaporators today in particular are efficiency, service life and robustness as well as compact dimensions for space-saving evaporation units. Moreover, service access, for example, during cleaning and de-icing the devices, is important. The thrust range also plays an important role in keeping the cold storage area cold "in every corner".
ebm-papst takes these requirements into account with a new fan series. The axial fans of the AxiCool series are available in sizes 300, 350 and 450 mm, and are thus suited for a wide variety of typical evaporator applications. They brave temperatures down to 40 °C and achieve, thanks to the external rotor design, highly compact dimensions. The fans fulfil as standard the requirements up to protection type IP54, and are also convincing due to a wide variety of practical details.
The standard design, with the two-part wall ring, can have, a heating band retrofitted as needed. Installing a heating band in the wall ring has the advantage of preventing unnecessary entry of heat into the cold storage area. As standard, drain channels are installed on the inside of the wall ring so that water, for example, can run out in the direction of the drip pan after de-icing without problems and thus prevent the fan blades from freezing in place. Optionally, this series also offers a version with a streamer which can ideally almost double the thrust range of the fan. The easy installation enables a problem-free retrofitting of the streamer onto an existing fan. Another option is offered with hinges, which significantly increases service accessibility. The hinge fixture permits the simple folding away of the fan, for example when the heat exchanger is being cleaned.
The AxiCool fans, perfectly suited to evaporator applications, are available in the same dimensions with AC motors as well as energy-efficient GreenTech EC motors. Additionally, EC motors decrease the energy consumption and reduce the heat given off to a significantly higher level of efficiency. As an additional advantage, the user can choose between the conventional two-step control or a demand-oriented control via a 0-10 V signal. The use of HyBlade® impellers, moreover, compared to existing fans with sheet metal blades common on the market, enables a noise reduction of up to 4 dB(A).
