The IntrCooll^®-unit has been designed to provide cooling and ventilation for commercial and industrial spaces. The cooling technology is based on a two-stage cooling principle: indirect/direct evaporative cooling.

Modern plants require controlled mechanical ventilation to displace polluted indoor air and create a healthy environment. The IntrCooll^®-unit ensures that the right amount of fresh outdoor air is supplied to the plant during working hours, all year round.

During the summer season, the fresh air can be actively cooled to guarantee a stable and comfortable indoor climate with negligible power consumption compared to traditional air conditioning systems.

Cooling principle

Indirect/direct evaporative cooling is a natural cooling method that cools the ambient air in two steps:

• First, the ambient air is pre-cooled by a heat exchanger, without adding humidity, resulting in a lower wet-bulb temperature.
• Second, the ambient air is further cooled down by our OXYVAP^® evaporative media and approaches the wet-bulb temperature of the air that is pre-cooled by the heat exchanger.

Advantages of indirect/direct evaporative cooling:

• Supplies up to 6 °C lower supply temperatures compared to high efficiency direct evaporative coolers.
• Adds less humidity to the air (typically 30-50% less) compared to direct evaporative coolers.
• Has a reduced water and electricity consumption.

Intelligent and intuitive control system

The IntrCooll^®-unit control system guarantees maximum efficiency and minimum water use under all conditions. It precisely monitors ambient temperature, ambient humidity and indoor temperature.

Two models available

The IntrCooll^®-unit    ^IntrCooll is available in two sizes: the D6500 and the D15000, which supply 6.500 m³/h and 15.000 m³/h respectively. With outdoor conditions at 35 °C with 30% relative humidity the D6500 has a cooling power of 38 kW and the D15000 delivers 88 kW of cooling performance.

Natural pre-cooling cuts costs by over a third

A relatively small investment that saves more than a third on your operational cooling costs is a rare opportunity. PreCooll reduces your environmental footprint and, by realizing significant energy savings, also your AC running costs. The PreCooll proposition becomes even more attractive and profitable when the real long-term costs of industrial cooling systems are fully taken into account.

In spite of their obvious shortcomings, compressor-based AC systems will remain in use for many years to come. Natural pre-cooling, of the kind delivered by PreCooll, is by far the simplest and most effective way to achieve significant savings. By reducing peak demands with up to 60 percent, pre-cooling also provides welcome relief for overloaded power grids.

PreCooll creates a cool microclimate around your industrial cooling system with the help of Oxyvap^®, the highly efficient direct evaporative cooling pads developed and produced by Oxycom. In warm climates, Oxyvap^® can lower the inlet air temperature by as much as 25 °C (45 °F). Self-cleaning, made of inorganic materials and with the lowest possible air resistance, Oxyvap^® guarantees safe operations and maximum savings for many years.

Adiabatic cooling of the ambient air before it enters the system is the fastest way to lower energy consumption. The steady supply of cold air to your condenser not only boosts efficiency, it also contributes to longer equipment lifetime and lower maintenance costs.

AquaMizer

Key to PreCooll’s performance is the intelligent AquaMizer pumping station. Maximum water efficiency is achieved with state-of-the-art sensors and control algorithms that monitor the ambient conditions and determine the operation modes, ensuring the PreCooll system is active only when necessary. The fully automated water management system continuously monitors water quality, drains the system and refreshes the water when mineral levels reach certain values.

The Oxycell^® is a modular and compact counter-flow heat exchanger for use in high efficiency heat recovery/cooling ventilation systems or air handling units. The heat exchanger is based upon our unique and patented water retaining finned aluminum sheet, designed for maximum heat transfer and evaporation. Besides a very efficient heat recovery unit during the winter season, you can also use it as an indirect evaporative cooler during the summer season.

It’s the only four season component of its kind available on the market

During the winter season, the Oxycell^® provides fresh air with a heat recovery efficiency of 85-90%. During the summer season, the Oxycell^® provides fresh (outdoor) air at a temperature of approximately 18-20 °C (64-68 °F) offering a reduction in overall energy consumption of up to 80% versus conventional air conditioning technology. Moreover, this indirect evaporative cooling does not increase the absolute humidity of the supply air, while reaching wet bulb efficiencies of up to 130%.

The product has a modular design offering you the necessary flexibility to accommodate for different airflow capacities as required in your product portfolios while maintaining the individual component performance characteristics.

Energy Savings

Oxycell^®-based ventilation systems supply fresh (outdoor) air at a temperature of approximately 18-20 °C (64-68 °F) all year round offering a reduction in overall energy consumption of up to 80% versus conventional air conditioning technology and a heat recovery efficiency of 85-90%. The European Ecodesign Directive/Ökodesign-Richtlinie

The Oxycell^® satisfies all the 2016 and 2018 heat recovery ventilation requirements established in the European Ecodesign Directive/Ökodesign-Richtlinie.

The Oxyvap^® is a highly efficient direct evaporative cooling pad for use in compact adiabatic cooling and humidification systems. It can be used for adiabatic cooling in a ventilation system during the summer, to pre-cool the air for the condenser coil in conventional AC units or as a humidifier in an air handling unit during the winter.

Designed for easily scalable application, the Oxyvap^® is a robust and reliable evaporative medium with integrated water distribution and collection, set in an aluminum frame. Its modular design and plug & play functionality offers the flexibility to accommodate for a wide range of airflow capacities while maintaining high performance levels.

Unique finned structure

The Oxyvap^® is based upon our patented water-retaining finned aluminum sheets designed for maximum evaporation. At an air velocity of 2 m/s (394 fpm), it reaches a saturation efficiency of 90 percent with an air pressure drop of just 44 Pa (0.18 inAq).

The unique structure of the high-quality aluminum fins ensures a continuous self-cleaning process that prevents the buildup of dirt, mold or calcium deposits, a common problem in cellulose-based evaporative media. Paper cooling pads typically have a saturation efficiency of 70 percent, will cause a pressure drop of at least 75 Pa (0.30 inAq) and are highly susceptible to dirt accumulation, including fungi and algae that may pose serious health risks.

Hygienics 

Hygiene is a hot item when it comes to evaporative media. The Oxyvap^® meets the VDI 6022 guidelines for ventilation and indoor air quality. VDI is the German Association of Engineers and one of Germany’s most important regulatory bodies. The VDI Ventilation Code of Practice contains the requirements for HVAC systems regarding design, manufacture, operation and maintenance to ensure hygienic operation.

In air handling units, the Oxyvap^® can be applied for humidification and adiabatic cooling. In a high-pressure spray system for air humidification, it can function as a droplet eliminator. In traditional air conditioning, it is highly effective in the pre-cooling of air before it enters the condenser coil, improving results in terms of energy use, equipment stress and cooling performance.
