Electrical Outdoor Surface Heating Systems are used in order to keep traffic routes, roadways, pavements, car park entries, bridges and stairs free from ice and snow. The same systems are applied for outdoor spaces in industrial plants (e.g. pump stations) where an unrestricted access to plant areas is obligatory for reasons of works safety. This kind of heating can be delivered in explosion-proof design on request.

A further application presents the heating of rotating scraper bridges for round or longitudinal sedimentation tanks in order to guarantee a continuous operation of the scraper.

The fully automatic control via moisture and temperature registration of the heating systems makes an efficient and economic consumption of energy possible.

Domestic Application
This type of Klöpper-Therm electric heating systems has been designed for the prevention of frost at pipes, gutters, drain- and downpipes so that a permanent drainage of melting water can be guaranteed, avoiding new formation of ice and snow

Electrical surface heating systems have been planned, manufactured and delivered in different design by Klöpper-Therm for more than four decades.

Heating Mat Systems around Cold Stores (Frost Protection for Freezer Rooms)
Depending on the construction, a variety of heating systems are used in cold stores. Klöpper-Therm offers solutions for different requirements such as for example in the ground floor, on walls, ceilings, supports and in the concrete.

Wall and Ceiling Heating
Wall heating systems are used for cold store walls embedded fully or partly underground, for fire protection walls between two cold stores and insufficiently ventilated cavities.
A further application is the prevention of condensate or ice formation on sluice walls and ceilings in cold stores.

Support Heating
For insulated and non-insulated support bases within cold stores, the cold flow must be compensated via the support to the ground. For this application different solutions can be provided.

Concrete Heating in the Door Area
The concrete heating compensates the cold flow in the door area above the concrete and thus prevents a freezing of the door sealing on the ground as well as ice formation in the door area behind the door.

Power and Control Panels
For controlling all these different heating systems, Klöpper-Therm designs and delivers the corresponding power and control units. Electronic temperature controllers with digital temperature display as well as current control for each single heating mat belong to the standard.

Assembly and Commissioning
Our detailed documentation makes an easy assembly and commissioning by suitable own personnel possible. On request, both, the complete installation and commissioning can be carried out by Klöpper-Therm.

The emergency call alarm systems for freezer rooms consist of a main unit, sirens, and up to 4 lighted trigger points. Emergency call equipment is communications equipment by means of which the necessary help can be summoned and sent to the place of use. Even in freezer rooms, emergencies can occur and risk to human life may arise.

Operations

The personnel emergency call is triggered by a palm button, which is available in two designs. The alarm is forwarded audibly via the sirens and visibly via a relay contact on the main unit. A flashing light for an additional optical alarm can be connected to the main unit. The palm buttons are lighted in case of darkness. Power is supplied from the main unit with an installed storage battery and charge controller. The function of the emergency call alarm system is thus guaranteed, even in case of a mains failure.

Nowadays electrical heating systems are applied in industrial plants for various applications. In technical and commercial point of view, electrical heating systems dispose of essential advantages towards conventional heating systems. These are among others: high safety, long lifetime, immediate availability, high temperature and control accuracy, simple monitoring and maintenance. For use in hazardous areas, approved and certified systems are available. These features are important and decisive factors for designers, decision makers and operators.
From exploitation via transport, processing, and storage of gaseous and liquid products, electric heating systems are used in a lot of industrial areas.

Electric heaters are used e.g. for heating up of water, oils, chemical products and gases, for overheating steams, evaporating liquids, drying gases, starting-up chemical processes etc.
Here, the electrical heaters reach heating capacities from some kilowatt up to several megawatt. Client-specific and custom-designed electric heaters in different types of construction belong to our specialty.
Electric heaters are understood as completion of conventional heat exchangers. Since merely electric energy must primary be available, they are easy to install and can practically be operated at any location. Local sources of emission are not relevant. As to the process engineering, they offer the possibility to realize high temperatures together with high control accuracy and are thus ideally suitable for start-up processes in the chemical industry.
By means of indirect heating e.g. when using an intermediate medium (such as heat transfer oil) or by electrically heated casts, even components with complicated design can be heated optimal without risking a local overheating.
Within the wide application range of electric heaters, the heating-up of oil plays an important role. They temper oil in storage tanks, assist in the separation of oleiferous liquids, enable and facilitate the transport of pipelines and improve the characteristics during combustion..

Electric heat tracing systems are mainly used for temperature maintenance and compensation of insulation losses in pipelines, vessels, pumps etc. and thus for maintaining processes. For this purpose, different types of heating cable, heating conductors and heating tapes are available, enabling the client-specific and custom-designed planning of heat tracing system.
Falling below dew point in filters and transport equipment lead to caking and corrosion. This can reliably be avoided by installation of an electric heat tracing at the endangered spots by means of electric heating mats.
Foundation heating of liquid gas tanks prevent reliably a freezing of the ground and thus a disruption of the tank foundation. By means of a special software, the optimum installation distance and the correct embedding depth of the electric heating cable can be calculated so that the boil-off rate cannot increase and profitability and safety have top priority.
Frost protection heating systems for open spaces, ramps, bridges, roads as well as foundations in cold stores are also realized by electric heat tracing.
With the selection of adequate control and switching devices, optimal for the requirement, the electric heating systems present a precise and energy-efficient component for the operation of plants.
