In the context of European policy to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and energy consumption, it is more necessary than ever to choose sustainable solutions, and the so-called 4th generation HFOs.
The Hydro Fluoro Olefins (HFO) developed by the producers of refrigerants have been designed primarily to find a substitute for R-134a in the automotive industry: HFO-1234yf, and for insulation applications: HFO-1234ze.
These two fluids with low Global Warming Potential (GWP respective 4 and 6) can meet the objectives of the regulations while increasing the energy efficiency of facilities. Producers are currently developing a range of HFOs to cover future needs for refrigeration and air conditioning. New refrigerants should be available within a few years and some may be used in existing equipment without the need for major changes.
Pending commercialization of HFOs, there is a new solution to lower GWP - Performax™ LT.
Genetron ® Performax ™ LT replaces R-404A in new and existing installations. It improves the energy efficiency of the system, which in turn reduces energy consumption and carbon footprint. In addition, direct CO2 emissions can be lowered by over 50%. This product is a combination of HFC applications for low and medium temperature commercial refrigeration.
