SIKA Vortex sensor measures volumetric flow with no moving parts – an intelligent solution for OEM applications
SIKA's Vortex flow meter VVX is based on the Kármán vortex street principle and is installed directly in the pipe as an inline device. An integrated bluff body creates swirling vortices in the medium, which interact with the piezoelectric force sensor and signal processing circuitry to produce an output signal that is proportional to the flow. The Vortex sensor is unaffacted by changes in pressure, temperature and density. The new Vortex flow sensor is made from glass fibre reinforced plastic, which makes it robust, durable and inexpensive The Vortex sensor is therefore ideal for OEM applications.
The force sensor which detects the vortex is fully plastic encapsulated, making it even more insensitive to contamination and pressure surges. As well as measuring volumetric flow, the device detects the medium temperature with an integrated temperature sensor.
Another highlight is the variety of output signals: analogue voltage or pulse signal options are available for flow, while a resistance or analogue signal is available for temperature. The new flow sensor also features a wide measuring range, and it can withstand media temperatures up to 90°C. Users have a choice of two plug connector types.
Due to its process connections with the metric and NPT male thread as well as the new Quick Fasten system the Vortex VVX can be easily integrated into existing processes.
