For both, sub- and transcritical applications in CO2 refrigeration plants, the RENISO C product series, synthetic refrigeration oils based on polyol esters containing a special, high-performance additive package to increase
wear protection, have been in use with good experience for more than ten years in various refrigeration units (e.g. food retail cooling, ship cooling).
FES also offers a complete range of high-performance RENISO refrigeration oils for use with hydrocarbon refrigerants like propane (R290) or propylene (R1270). RENISO SYNTH 68, a fully synthetic refrigeration oil based on PAO, as well as polyol ester-based products – RENISO TRITON SE/SEZ – are recommended for this application field. These synthetic refrigeration oils show suitable solubility characteristics with hydrocarbon refrigerants, a high chemical stability and extraordinary anti-wear properties when used with hydrocarbon refrigerants.
Conventional lubricants for ammonia (NH3, R717) refrigeration systems are mineral oil-based refrigeration oils like the products of the RENISO Kseries. However, especially in case of low evaporation temperatures fully
synthetic products are required like RENISO SYNTH 68, based on polyalphaolefins, or RENISO UltraCool 68, formulated with synthetic hydrocarbons. Because of their excellent ageing characteristics, low oil carry-over
in the circuit and their extraordinary low temperature flowability, these fully synthetic ammonia refrigeration oils are highly recommended for use, also under heavy-duty conditions (low evaporation temperatures < -50°C, small
tubing diameters in the heat exchangers) The lifetime of the lubricant in the refrigeration plant can be significantly extended because of the higher ageing stability compared with mineral oils. Also the consumption of refrigeration
oil can be reduced, which leads to a reduction of operation costs of the refrigeration plant.
