Long-Term Refrigerant Solutions and Sustainable Architectures for Refrigeration Systems
Food retail, the cold chain and industrial refrigeration play a key role in reaching the CO2 equivalent reduction targets of the F-Gas regulation. The switch to lower GWP refrigerants in these markets has started, however much later than what would have been required to pass the CO2 availability reduction step of 2018. Due to this late transition, there is now an absolute need for new refrigeration installations to switch to cooling technologies using refrigerants with GWP below 150. Beside industrial/chemical gases like CO2, hydrocarbons or NH3, the HFOs with GWP<150 are and will remain long-term, future-proof and safe refrigerant solutions. These HFO solutions represent in many applications and systems an optimum in terms of the combination TEWI, capacity, safety risk and total cost of ownership. Decision-makers in food retail, in the cold chain and in industrial processes need to take into account all these factors when making decisions about the type of systems which they will implement for their refrigeration installations in the future. Honeywell has developed long-term refrigerant solutions, which are available now, and widen the choice of possibilities available to the refrigeration industry. They enable OEMs, contractors, operators and store managers to use flexible, efficient and future-proof refrigeration systems, and meet the long-term constraints of the F-Gas regulation and of the applicable minimum energy efficiency standards. Honeywell will present its “one refrigerant solution” per application and system type, and will showcase several examples of efficient and sustainable systems using these long-term refrigerant solutions.
