SK Brazing Company has introduced a Water Tank Vision and Welding Machine to compliment their Full Production Line for Hot Water Solar Panel Manufacturing. This new machine has the capability of welding both of the end caps of water storage tanks to the main water tank body using either a TIG, MIG, Plasma, CO2 or Laser welding process.
The introduction of this machine enables manufacturers to increase their water tank production while maximizing water tank quality by:
Insuring tight dimensional control
Minimizing heat distortion
Providing uniform welding quality with precise size control
These are typical quality concerns associated with manual welding operations. Water tank assemblies can either be loaded onto the machine with or without the end caps spot welded onto the main tank body. If the assemblies are already spot welded, the machine will start the visioning process by rotating the assemblies on a lathe like fixturing system to check the entire circumference of the joint between the end caps and the tank body for tight dimensional tolerances through the use of vision and laser scanning. The laser sensors check the height variation of the joints to be welded and the vision sensors check the width variation of the joints to be welded and all of these measurements are displayed on the machine's Vision Scanning Monitor. The machine will not weld if the tolerances exceed the maximum allowable.
If the tank assemblies are loaded onto the machine without the end caps having been spot welded to the tank body, the machine would rotate the assemblies to perform this task prior to visioning. The spot welding of the tank body to the end caps prior to final welding is a critical requirement in order to minimize heat deformation during the final weld process.
Once visioning of the spot welded assemblies is completed and there is confirmation that the tolerances are within acceptable limits, the machine will then proceed with final welding the end caps to the body of the water tanks using the customer's preferred welding process. Typically, this machine holds 5mm as the maximum tolerance in visioning with a cycle time of 2~3 minutes per 280~350mmtanks for visioning and welding.
The Water Tank Vision and Welding Machine design is flexible to accommodate a variety of water tank sizes and can also weld a variety of tank materials like stainless steel, aluminum or steel etc..
