The vertical expander (MV) is used to expand the tubes inside the finned coil and to perform the bells for the assembly of return-bends or nipples. The supporting structure is largely dimensioned to support heavy duty loads and made with sheets or structural shapes of high grade carbon steel. A large number of version and sizes is available, enriched with integrating multiple functionalities upon request. Thanks to the range amplitude, versatility of use and availability of accessories they can offer the best solution for any need to expand medium and big series of coils, managing up to 450 rods or a maximum length of the finned coil after the expansion of 8.5ft/2600mm. According to the diameter and the number of tubes to expand, the vertical expanders may be moved by 1 or 2 hydraulic cylinders.
Available options (on demands) There are a number of available options to customize the vertical expanders and make them flexible, efficient and easy to manage:
automatic closure of locking doors
hydraulic coil lift from horizontal to vertical position for tubes expansion, with adjusting of number of rows (manual, powered or by NC)
two position rotary “coil loader” for coil length up to 5.25ft/1600mm
expansion option for superposed coils by 1 row (max 4 rows), to be bent in a later process
automatic selection and quick fixing of rods
external rods storage containing from 1 to 5 sets of rods, to be managed by a slewing jib crane (MV expanders with automatic selection of rods only)
rod short-out system (electric safety device in case of bending of rods)
digital readout and setting (by PLC) of Y axis
Safety The standard version MV foresees the control of the operating part with light curtains by infrared and with mechanical barriers on the sides. The MV version with loader (upon request) instead of light curtains is equipped with a laser guard sensors.
